Im Talia, the face behind the sewing machine.
Originaly from Glasgow, I now live in Southampton with my wife, daughter, 3 dogs and 6 cats! We are a very busy house. I am also a full time carer for my adult daughter, who is autistic.
I love to create and being creative has been a constant throughout my life, be it in dancing, painting or designing.
I studied art when I was younger, specialising in fashion and textiles. However, it wasn't until much later in life that my love for textiles was rekindled.
Spells and Spindles started as a hobby when I retired from dancing, and it slowly became a business. It's much more than just my job, it's my therapy, it's my 'me' time. I find it has an almost meditative quality, and it gives me the creative fix that I crave.
Im a perfectionist and I pride myself on making high quality, unique pieces. When you buy a piece of my work you're buying something authentic, that has come from the heart. If I'm not in love with it, it doesn't make it into to my shop.
In April 2022 I won the Theo Paphitis #SBS award. I am so proud to have received this recognition of my work.
